Grittleton House School is a non-selective school. All children who present for interview are eligible to attend Grittleton House School unless they have educational needs so specific which the Head deems cannot be supported within the current support system offered by the school, and providing there is a space available in the appropriate class. Children are invited to spend a day with their peer group, prior to the firm offer of a place, so that teaching staff are able to ascertain that all needs can be supported.

 

This policy usually (but not always) debars children with a Statement of Special Needs, as Grittleton House does not have a large enough special needs unit or sufficient specialist teachers or dedicated facilities. For children for whom we can supply a limited amount of extra help, we will modify activities in order to enable the fullest participation.

 

Children whose first language is not English will be offered EFL lessons with a specialist teacher, (for which there is an additional charge), until they are able to integrate fully into the class.

 

Our admissions policy, we believe, reflects our firm belief that all children are special, different, have individual needs, and are valued equally in the school.
