History of the School

The school, which is now over 50 years old, was founded in 1951 by Mrs J E Shipp. It was known as Westgate School. When it outgrew its Chipping Sodbury premises a move was made to Rangeworthy Court in Gloucestershire, and the School continued to flourish.

In 1967 Rangeworthy Court became too small for the growing number of pupils and the School moved to Grittleton House in Wiltshire.

The school now comprises three departments; Nursery and Infants, the Junior School and the Senior School. Mrs Shipp’s aim to provide a challenging, stimulating and broad education, developing mind, body and character remains firmly with us today.
